The operator's guide · OnlyFans, Fanvue & Fansly

Where to hire OnlyFans chatters — and when an agency is the better choice.

Freelance sites, chatter communities, referrals or a team abroad: what each one costs in time and risk, for OnlyFans, Fanvue and Fansly accounts that already bring in fans.

The hiring loop: find applicants, screen and run test chats, train, build 24/7 shifts and cover, then weeks with live fans. If the chatter is not a fit, the loop starts again. Each round costs your hours, training time, missed sales and fan trust.
An illustrative hiring loop, not data from a real hire.

You post a chatter job in a Telegram group before bed. By morning your DMs are full of applicants, each with a screenshot of a big month. Which one can you trust with your fans at 3 a.m.?

Most creators and agencies hire OnlyFans chatters from freelance marketplaces, chatter job boards and Telegram or Discord communities, referrals, or experienced chatters recruited from other teams; some build a full in-house team abroad. Finding applicants is the easy part. The real cost is screening, training, scheduling 24/7 shifts, covering no-shows, reviewing conversations and running payroll. And you only find out whether a chatter is good after weeks with live fans.

Hire in-house if you want full control and have the time to manage people. If you would rather hand over the whole operation, a managed human chatting agency supplies trained chatters, shift coverage and conversation review. The same choice applies on Fanvue and Fansly.

We run one of those teams, so this guide explains our approach. It is written for creators, agency owners and Fanvue AI-model operators who already bring in fans. Chatting turns existing traffic into conversations and sales; it cannot create the traffic.

01 / The sources

Where to hire OnlyFans and Fanvue chatters

Every source trades speed against certainty in a different way. None of them tells you how a person will handle your fans. Only a test and live work can do that.

  1. Freelance marketplaces

A large pool of applicants and built-in payment handling. Many applicants have general sales or customer-service experience rather than fan-platform experience, and some general marketplaces restrict adult-industry work. Read the marketplace's terms before posting, and expect to screen heavily.

  2. Chatter job boards, Telegram and Discord communities

The fastest way to reach people who already know the work. Experience is hard to verify: an earnings screenshot shows an account's results, not what this person contributed to them. People who arrive quickly can disappear just as quickly.

  3. Referrals

Someone you trust has seen the person work. The pool is small, it rarely fills a full 24/7 rota, and parting ways with a friend's referral can get awkward.

  4. Recruiting from other teams

Experienced chatters need less basic training, but they bring another team's habits and scripts. Make sure you are not asking anyone to break an agreement with their current team, or to bring fan data with them.

  5. Building an in-house team abroad

Hiring in another country can lower the hourly cost and make overnight shifts easier to staff. You also take on cross-border pay and contracts, language and slang fluency, and managing people whose working day is your night.

02 / Beyond the hourly rate

The hidden costs of hiring chatters yourself

The rate you agree with a chatter is the visible cost. These are the jobs that arrive with them.

Before the first shift

Writing the job post, reading applications, interviewing, and designing and marking test chats. Then training: your voice and emoji habits, persona and backstory, boundaries, the content library and the price ladder. Which set costs what, what can be discounted, what needs your approval. Every new hire repeats this.

Every week after

Someone builds a rota that covers every hour across time zones, weekends included. Someone finds cover when a chatter does not show up at 2 a.m. Someone reads conversations to catch repeated offers, underpriced PPV and pushy follow-ups; if nobody does, nobody knows. Then payroll: hours, commission splits and disputed shifts, every week.

Fan notes need a home, too. Without a shared tool, each fan's context lives in one chatter's head and leaves when that chatter does.

The risk you carry

Every hire needs access to the account. Use the platform's own team permissions where they exist, such as Fanvue manager accounts and Fansly permissions. Give each person only the access they need, and remove it the day they leave. A shared password that never gets changed is a risk that outlives the hire.

The biggest cost is uncertainty. A chatter can pass the interview and the test, then underprice your best fans, repeat a PPV the fan already bought, or forget a promised follow-up. You usually find out weeks later, from fans who stopped spending. Then you start the process again.

03 / Your numbers

Work out the true cost of one hire

Fill this in before you post the job. It uses your numbers only. Pay rates, hours and the value of your own time vary too much between operations for a benchmark to mean anything.

Count your own hours honestly. Evenings spent reading chats are still hours not spent on content, marketing or your creators.

05 / The alternative

What a managed human team takes off your plate

Zinely is a human chatting agency for OnlyFans, Fanvue and Fansly. We work with creators, agencies and AI-model operators who already bring traffic. Our chatters are trained before they start on an account, and the jobs behind them are ours: hiring, shifts, chatter payroll and pricing.

AI builds the context. People have the conversation.

In our own custom-built tools, AI pulls together each fan's context into a fan brief beside the chat: past conversations, purchases, preferences, boundaries, what was promised and notes from earlier shifts. The chatter knows who they are talking to, including straight after a shift change.

AI never chats with your fans. It helps the chatter prepare; it does not send messages. Every message a fan receives is sent by a human chatter who has read the conversation. Read more about how AI-assisted human chatting works.

A shift change at 3 a.m.
Without shared context“Wait, didn't I already buy this?”

The new chatter scrolls back, misses Tuesday's purchase and offers the same set again.

With a fan brief beside the chatRead the brief. Read the chat. Reply.

Bought set A on Tuesday. Promised a preview on Friday. Prefers a slower pace. The chatter picks up where the last shift stopped.

Illustrative scenario, not a client conversation. The brief supports the chatter's judgement; a human chatter sends every message.

Review and coverage you don't have to run

Team leads review conversations, and AI flags chats that need a lead's attention. Anything risky is escalated to a team leader before anyone acts. Coverage is monitored 24/7: if a chatter misses a shift, cover chatters step in, and if no one is active on an account, it is flagged to management.

The terms

We charge commission on the net tips and PPV our chatters close: 16.5–25% for OnlyFans and Fansly, and usually 20–25% for Fanvue. We do not commission subscriptions or renewals; platform fees still apply. There is no retainer, minimum or lock-in, and invoices go out every two weeks. We usually go live within 24 hours of first contact, subject to account readiness and agreed access. Final terms are agreed before launch.

Creators can start with OnlyFans chatting. Agencies keep the creator relationship and marketing with white label chatting for agencies. AI-model operators get human chatters working from the persona brief through Fanvue chatting.

06 / An honest answer

When hiring your own chatters is the right choice

Hire in-house when…

You want to choose every person and every script. You have time each week to train, schedule, review and pay people. You already run shift management, or you are building chatting into your own agency as a core skill.

Use a managed team when…

Your time is worth more on content, marketing or creators. Coverage gaps keep appearing at night or at weekends. You have hired before and found out too late. Or you would rather pay one invoice every two weeks than run a payroll.

If you are unsure, test it fairly. Run a managed team on one account and compare it with your in-house results over the same period, noting traffic, content and pricing changes on both sides. A better traffic week alone does not show which team did the better work.

If you already have chatters and the results are slipping, read why chatters underperform before you replace anyone. Our case studies show individual account results with screenshots, not a forecast for your account.

07 / Before you decide

Questions about hiring chatters

Where can I find OnlyFans chatters?

Freelance marketplaces, chatter job boards and Telegram or Discord communities, referrals, and experienced chatters from other teams. Some operators build an in-house team abroad. Whichever you choose, run a paid test chat built from your own inbox and review the first live week closely.

Is it cheaper to hire my own chatters than to use an agency?

It depends on what your time is worth and how many hires it takes to find a good one. Add pay, your hours on recruiting, training, scheduling, review and payroll, tools, and sales missed while a chatter learns. Compare that total with an agency's commission over the same period.

Does Zinely use AI to chat with fans?

No. AI never chats with your fans. In our own tools, AI pulls each fan's history into a brief beside the chat, so the human chatter knows who they are talking to. Every message is sent by a human chatter who has read the conversation.

Can I hire chatters for a Fanvue AI model?

Yes. Zinely's human chatters work from your persona brief, approved content and boundaries. The persona can be AI-generated; the chatters are people, and the account's required AI-content disclosure stays in place.

How soon can a managed team start?

At Zinely, usually within 24 hours of first contact, once the account, brief and agreed access are ready. Requesting an estimate does not commit you to a takeover.

I already have chatters. Do I have to replace all of them?

No. Tell us which accounts or hours are going wrong. We can review your current setup, voice, boundaries and handover before you decide anything, and you don't need to share account access for that first review.
